Tour itinerary in this package
Day 1: Fez – Merzouga
You will be met after breakfast at your Hotel by your driver and depart Fez for Merzouga. Experience spectacular views of cedar forests, visit the Barbary apes at Ifrane and tour through the beautiful and scenic Midelt on route to the Sahara. Travel through the Ziz valley and view the Efous oasis which offers amazing photographic opportunities. Arrive late in the afternoon for your night in Merzouga, at the edge of the sand dunes. In this calm and welcoming village, you can explore the local community garden and even explore the dunes a little bit on foot before spending the night at a local riad.
Day 2: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi
Today your driver will take you on a desert tour around the area of the dunes, including a visit to the village of Khamlia where you can hear the beautiful and complex rhythms of Gnawa music. We return to Merzouga where you can take a dip in a local outdoor pool if it’s hot before meeting your camel guide. Hop on the camel caravan in the late afternoon and embark on your journey into the desert. Erg Chebbi is the large sand-sea which effectively marks the start of the real Sahara and some of the dunes in this area rise to over 245 metres. The colours of the rising and setting sun over these dunes make for a truly magical experience. Enjoy a home-cooked Moroccan meal at our desert camp in the heart of the dunes before spending the night in a traditional wool tent or under the stars.
Day 3: Erg Chebbi – Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
Catch the mesmerizing sunrise over the dunes at dawn. Return to Merzouga on camels and enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Recharge before embarking towards Todra Gorge, Tinghir, and Dades Gorge. A must-see is the Todra Gorge, a massive fault dividing High Atlas from Jebel Sarhro. The crystal clear river emerging from the deep ochre and pink rock formations offer a dramatic landscape and great photographic opportunities. The Dades Gorges is best explored on foot so make sure you take some time out for a short hike to take in the valleys for a sunset view of the palmeries and Dades, River which flows along the gorges.
Day 4: Dades Valley – Fez
On your final day travel through the beautiful Valley of the Roses and La Palmerie Skoura. Journey back via the middle Atlas Mountains, Midelt and Azrou, before reaching your final destination of Fez. Our tour concludes in the evening when we drop you off at your chosen location in Fez.
